Wonders of Home Improvement

If you are looking to sell your house in the near future, you might be better off using Home Improvement techniques first to increase the value of your realty. Over the last week I researched on ways to increase the value of a property and Real Estate experts consisting of agents, owners, builders have given their vote to small home improvements that can surprisingly boost your property value by thousands of dollars. Below, you will find a survey done by MSN House & Home that talks about the worth of different Home Improvement options.

    Great start to your new Blog and real estate analytics career. Unfortunately these "surveys" are often wrong and don't take into account local market conditions. For instance, in a market of 3 bedrooms, a 2nd bedroom won't sell well and may go for 25%-50% less than the 3 beds. If I add a bedroom, then my return may far exceed my cost due to the demand.

    I can site many examples including upgrades of bathrooms and kitchens that more than pay off due to demand for these items.

    Lastly, these surveys never take into consideration total remodels. By remodeling a few items or many items, most fixer-upper specialists realize 3X their investment. This approach has proven out time and time again.

    Great start, but an even better approach would be to aggregate data from real life examples with local conditions included to give potential investors better guidance.

  • Ketan..you have made a good point when saying that home improvement is needed for many homeowners. When selling property takes place, after-renovation homes will surely have better price. I myself would like to suggest those would-be home-sellers to take Home Staging Service prior to selling time.
